Some Notes on MUSIC/SP

MUSIC/SP ("Multi-User System for Interactive Computing / System Product") is a medium to large-scale multi-user, multi-tasking operating system that runs on IBM S/370 and ESA/390 mainframe computers and mainframe emulators such as Hercules and Sim390. MUSIC/SP was written by McGill University in Montreal, during the years 1968 to 2000. Key applications provided are Internet access (e-mail, Web, FTP, Gopher, Newsreader), Web server (HTTP), conferencing, teaching support, campus-wide information systems, and program development.

McGill University no longer supports or distributes MUSIC/SP. However, there is an unsupported "demo" version of MUSIC/SP made available by the author of the Sim390 mainframe emulator.
